All abstracts must be submitted through the online form below. Logging within the electronic platform is required prior to abstract submission.

English is the default language for the conference. Written content (abstracts, slides, and posters) needs to be in English, and presenters should be able to participate in an English-based live discussion.

All presenters will be required to register for the conference by 11^th May 2022. Presenters who do not register by this date will not be included in the conference programme. We will issue acceptance notices by April 20 so you can proceed with registering. 

Each person is allowed to submit only one abstract as first/presenting author. All kind of presentations are included in this rule. A person may serve as a non-presenting co-author on several abstracts.

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to ask authors of oral abstracts to change their presentation format. Specifically, authors submitting abstracts for oral presentation may, in some cases, be invited to present a poster instead. We will notify you well in advance of any such change.

We are inviting abstracts for two different types of presentations:

Talks – Contributed talks will be 15 minutes long, plus 5 minutes for discussion.

Posters – Traditional posters will be presented in a more dynamic manner -we will call it "poster party"- and presenters will have to either give an elevator-pitch-like talk or show a pre-recorded video not exceeding a total of three minutes. We do not expect to have physical posters.

During the poster parties, after the short presentations, presenters will discuss their results with the participants in a relaxed environment. Early carrier scientists (ECRs), selected among the participants, will act as chairs in these sessions to steer the discussions.

• All abstracts must be submitted in English.
• Abstracts will be limited to a maximum of 500 words.
• You may provide up to five keywords.
• Figures may be inserted, provided that the size of the whole document (text plus figure) does not exceed one page. Figures and tables should be less than 4 cm in height. If two or more figures or tables are included, please arrange them in parallel horizontally.
• Submit a one-page Word doc./docx. using the provided template.
• It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that the abstract text does not contain typos or grammatical errors.
• All authors named in the abstract should be listed in the order you would like them to appear in the conference programme.
• Abstracts must be submitted by the first author/presenter.
• Please select the most appropriate thematic block from the list in the submission form.

After clicking the "Submit" button on the form page, you will receive a confirmation by email with the identification number of your abstract. You can use this reference for any notification regarding your contribution. If you do not receive this notification, please contact secretary@halophiles2022.eu to confirm that your abstract has been received.

You will be able to enter the system and edit your contribution at any time until the submission deadline (April 18, 2022). Afterwards, you will not be able to modify any element (type of contribution, title, abstract or sequential list of authors).

Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Advisory Board with regard to scientific quality and relevance to the Conference.

Notification of acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be issued by 2nd May 2022.

Registration: As noted above, all presenters are required to register for the conference by 11th May 2022. Presenters who do not register by this date risk having their presentation excluded from the conference program. 

Presenters will need to register for the entire conference, as one-day rates will not be available. In most cases, the Scientific Committee will not be able to accommodate special scheduling requests due to the large number of speakers and the cascading effect that any changes have on the rest of the program.

Scheduling:  Oral presentations will be grouped by topic, and the Committee will make every effort to ensure optimal placement of each speaker. In most cases, we will be unable to accommodate special scheduling requests except in the event of an oversight or scheduling conflict. We will post the detailed schedule on the conference website by the end of April and notify speakers of when their session will be.

Please do not submit an abstract unless you are committed to participating in the conference. Cancellations impose a serious burden and negatively impact the overall quality of the conference program. If extenuating circumstances force you to cancel your participation and you are unable to find a co-author or colleague to give your presentation on your behalf, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible at secretary@halophiles2022.eu so we can update the program accordingly.
