Guidelines for presenters

Talks

Talk slots are 20/25 minutes and there is a short discussion time (10 min) after a few talks.

This 20-25 minutes (depending on the talk) is the maximum time you will have for your presentation. We left the 10-min discussion to allow some flexibility, but we recommend you to plan your talk so you allow some time for questions at the end, since the time allowed for the discussion may be too short.

Please, make sure that you hand over your presentation both in ppt and pdf formats to the organizers so it can be uploaded in advance. Please make sure to bring along your presentation on a USB stick.

  • Sunday and Monday morning talks: provide your presentation to the personnel at the registration desk in the Villa Universitaria on Sunday afternoon.
  • Monday afternoon talks: registration desk at the building German Bernacer (University of Alicante), Monday morning.
  • Tuesday talks: registration desk at the building German Bernacer (University of Alicante), Monday afternoon.

Please create your presentations in 16:9 and text Calibri 18.

Posters (short presentations)

In this #Halophiles2022, conventional poster presentations have been substituted by short oral communications in what we have called the “Poster Party” sessions. There will be 2 “Poster Parties” included in the scientific program:

  • Poster Party I, on Monday June 27th, from 7 pm to 9 pm, which will focus on the “Molecules and Cells” and “Halophiles and Humans” topics, and
  • Poster Party II, on Tuesday June 28th, from 6 pm to 7.45 pm, related to “Diversity of Halophiles” and “The Environmental Dimension”.

Poster Parties will take place at Villa Universitaria. The order for the short communications is available here

Speakers will have 3 minutes for their talks, which can be “live” or pre-recorded. In any case, attendees will have 3 additional minutes to ask questions to the speakers right after their presentations. We have a special gift for the most inquisitive participants…

All poster presenters are requested to prepare a PDF of 3 slides and submit it before June 20th. Pre-recorded talks must be delivered to the registration desk upon arrival on Sunday 26th.

Instructions on preparing and sending your poster presentation are below.

We also encourage speakers to do their upmost during their talks since there will be a prize for the best short communication in each “Poster Party” session. In order to vote for the best talk, participants will have two tickets (one per session), for them to write the number of the short communication they preferred as in the “Abstracts and scientific program”.

Finally, the organizing committee wants these “Poster Parties” to be held in a relaxed atmosphere, hence there will be two tickets per participant (one per session) that can be exchanged for a drink.
